Vermont has a lovely landscape - famous for the small farms dotted across the whole state. However, Vermont is loosing family farms each year. If you feel conservation is important, yet don't want to join a group or spend a lot of money in donations; then consider doing direct sponsoring of a farm or just a single animal on a farm. If you sponsor directly to this farm, no money has to be wasted on charitable personnel or advertising or any of the other things that a large organization has to deal with. This is why we are offering direct support connected to our farm. The best thing about this is that you can actually visit the precise farm or even animal you want to sponsor. You can email questions and get real time photos and responses. You can be much more informed and involved with this type of situation.
When in season you can set up a visit for u-pick for blueberries, nuts and raspberries – then enjoy some time with the horses and a nice walk or reading session on the farm.
Eggs – beyond free ranged – multiple colored shells from happy hens. These eggs have more omga-3 and more vitamins and minerals than a grocery store egg.
Lavender – dried sprigs full of fragrance – organic so you can use them to flavor and season food as well as use for fragrant purposes.
Consulting - on how to start your own farm, or how to develop one product you love right where you live. Want to plan permaculture? We know how. Want to raise chickens but live in the middle of NYC? We know how.
Show chickens – that’s right, we breed a very rare type of bird and sell fertilized eggs as well as young hens and roos.
Tinctures – for your health – Nettle and spearmint are our specialties, with others depending on seasonal harvest.
Adopt A - -?? yes, take your pick … a brave pecan tree trying to be the northernmost of its kind … to a chicken with spots in the shape of a heart … to a young horse who overcame severe neglect. Adopt, help support and get weekly input on your adoptee of choice – as well as a chance to come to visit your adoptee once a year spending the night in our guest room and enjoying the peace of this small farmette.
Why an Adopt An X? Well – it is because farmland across the country is being abandoned and/or sold for development – and this is because in order to pay property taxes and have electricity and such – most farms are a negative sink. If we want our country to stay a mix of city and country – right now the country needs help. Decades ago the country helped the cities thrive and grow – now the aid needs to flow the other way until we come to a balance again. Just do a small search on the number of dairy farms in any state 15 years ago vs now – you will nearly cry at how much was lost.
